I have firsthand experience with the effects of heat from my time at a Boy Scout summer camp when one of my troopmates fainted due to heat exhaustion. Later, I learned more about heat-related issues and research through a family acquaintance who was studying at UCLA. Motivated to help, I looked for a community project and found a local organization called DEVIS that was seeking support.
I took action and decided to distribute heat relief kits. In collaboration with DEVIS, I assembled and distributed 50 Heat Relief Kits filled with essentials such as:
- Battery-operated cooling fan
- Reusable water bottles
- Cap
- Electrolyte drinks
- Energy bar
These kits were distributed to unhoused people in downtown Los Angeles.
Each kit represented more than just supplies; it was a way to show care and remind others that they are not invisible.
